- Since January 1, 2005, FHTH has constructed 300 new
homes providing housing for 1,780 people, The breakdown is as follows:
24 homes in 2005, 24 homes in 2006, 57 homes in 2007, 83 homes in 2008, 92 homes in 2009 and 20 homes so far in 2010. There are thousands more in need of
the same assistance.
- Sixteen homes have been repaired, making them
liveable and providing housing for 72 people.
- Safe and efficient stoves have been provided to 35
families through volunteer donations.
- School supplies for 96 students in 2009 (Guatemalan
government paying for registration costs for most schools in 2009).
Registration and school supplies paid for 564 children for the 2008
school year, 269 children in 2007, 54 children in 2006, and 18 children
in 2005. We help educated a total of 1,001 children by paying for their
registration and/or school supplies.
- Donations have provided 103 beds with mattresses,
sheets, pillows and blankets.
- Santa Marie de Jesus, a primarily indigenous
community 20 minutes from Antigua, has received 20 new school desks,
two new bathrooms and repairs to one classroom.
- Due to the water shortage in Santa Maria de Jesus we
also provided a water tank so students would have enough water for
their personal use and the use of the school bathrooms.
- From Houses to Homes continues to help Asociacion
Cambiando Vidas (Changing Lives), a school in Pastores, Guatemala. We
have repaired their leaky roof and classroom ceilings, as well as other
small repairs. We bought them a computer, refrigerator, freezer and
tables and chairs and paid for two teachers salaries for the school
year 2008 and 2009.
- We have provided a portion of the salary of Prof.
Rigoberto Zamora Charuc School in Parramos, Guatemala, for the
education of 150 students for the 2008 school year.
- From Houses to Homes provided laptops and computer
education for teachers at a school in San Mateo Milpas Altas,
Guatemala, so they will be able to teach their students.
- In January 2009, From Houses to Homes provided
funding for the construction of a school in Pastores, Guatemala for the
Cambiando Vidas Project and also funded another school in Santa Maria
de Jesus, Guatemala for the same Project. The teaching methods have
been adopted from the most forward-thinking educators of North America.
Class numbers are small to provide a high level of personal attention
to every child. Parents must participate in the education of their
children, and attend weekly classes to learn good parenting
skills.
- In January 2009, From Houses to Homes provided
funding for the construction of a school in Sacala, Guatemala, for the
charity, Oneness, of Ontario, Canada.
- In March 2009, we built two classrooms and a kitchen
for the
school in San Mateo Milpas Altas, Guatemala.
- In April 2009, we paid for the education of 30 men
from Santa Maria de Jesus who are learning to become electricians.
- Thousands of pounds of new and used clothing and
shoes have been distributed thanks to the generous support of our
visitors and supporters. Many adults and children have received food
and medicine.
- More than 733 volunteers from 22 different countries
(Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia, Canada, Denmark, England, France,
Germany, Guatemala, Ireland, Israel, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway,
Poland, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, USA and Wales) gained the experience of a
lifetime changing the lives of very needy and beautiful people. Many of the 733 volunteers have volunteered several times over the 5+ years.
