How You Can Help!

Find out how much God has given you and from it take what you need; the remainder is needed by others.  ~Saint Augustine

Each home costs approximately $1,500 for materials and transportation. Our homes are 13 x 19 foot homes, made entirely of concrete block, with cement floor, corrugated metal roof, with skylight, a metal door with lock, and a metal-framed window with glass. The home is stuccoed and painted inside and out with colors chosen by the home owner.

In addition to building homes, funds are put toward building bunk beds, stoves, healthcare needs, school registration & school supplies. You can specify where you would like your funds to go

$1,500: Build one new home and affix a plaque with your name on the home honoring your donation

$250: Build a bunk bed with mattress, pillow, sheet & blanket

$150: Buy a stove

$40 or $80: Tuition and school supplies for a child to attend school for one year. $40 for a grade school child and $80 for junior and senior high school students

Be part of a service team and come to Guatemala to help build a new home for a needy family. No experience necessary. We ask that you donate $500.00 per person plus pay for your own airfare and living expense. Spanish school students in Guatemala are asked to donate according to their means.

For those who are looking for a real Gap Year experience in Guatemala equal to none, please contact us directly at info@fromhousestohomes.org. We will arrange everything for you and the $500.00 you donate will go direcly to helping the poor of Guatemala. The only additional fee you will need to pay other than your airfare would be your lodging with a Guatemalan host family, which usually costs about $10.00 per person, per day, including meals.

We are looking for used laptops, as new as possible, but at least in good working condition, to be donated to several schools. The laptops would be used first by the teachers and then the students, depending upon the number received.

I am only one, but I am one.  I cannot do everything, but I can do something.  And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.  ~Edward Everett Hale

When a poor person dies of hunger, it has not happened because God did not take care of him or her. It has happened because neither you nor I wanted to give that person what he or she needed. -Mother Teresa
